Tom-1501 VST,AU is based on meticulous sampling of the Soviet-era instrument of the same name, simulating the sounds of piano, harpsichord, and an orchestral string section consisting of violins, violas, and double bass, as well as brass instruments. The left and right sides of the keyboard retain the ability to be tuned differently.The Tom-1501 is one of the most iconic polyphonic synthesizers from the Soviet era. Famous for its orchestral textures and a unique «Ensemble» effect, it has been a secret weapon for creators of Synthwave, Lo-Fi, and Cinematic scores.
Unlike modern digital emulations, our VST is built on pure hardware samples. We spent months restoring an original unit to factory specifications to capture its true voice — from the deep, vibrating basses to the shimmering, ethereal high registers.Produced in the mid-80s, the Tom-1501 was the Soviet response to Western string machines like the Solina or Crumar, but with a darker, more «industrial» and melancholic edge that is highly sought after today.
